Documentation / The modules

Menu

The Menu module shows your menu: sections, dishes, their prices, their diets and their allergens. You change it in your account, and every page that carries the module follows on its own.

The menu

A menu is made of sections ("Starters", "Pizzas", "Desserts"), with an optional note ("Served until 2 PM"), then dishes. Every section carries an empty row for one more dish, and an empty section waits at the bottom: save to get more. Clear a dish's name to remove it.

A menu holds up to 100 dishes in 15 sections. For a lunch menu and a dinner menu, create two menus: the code in the "Embed" tab shows that one.

A dish

  • The price is written "12" or "12.50". Left empty, it is not shown (market price, a dish sold only in variants).
  • Variants: two at most, each with its price ("Small 14", "Large 21").
  • Diets: vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, spicy.
  • Allergens: Health Canada's eleven priority allergens (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, fish, crustaceans and molluscs, sesame, soy, wheat and gluten, mustard, sulphites). The list is closed on purpose: an allergen typed by hand would not translate.
  • Sold out today: the dish stays in its place, crossed out, with the "Sold out" label. Uncheck the box when it comes back.

The starter menu

A new menu carries three sample dishes, to show how to fill it in. Their prices are not shown online until you have saved it once: a made-up price must never end up in front of a customer.

Currency and language

The currency (Canadian dollar, US dollar or euro) is set in the "Settings" tab. Prices are written the way the site's language does: "12,50 $" in French, "$12.50" in English. Diets and allergens are translated; the names and descriptions of your dishes stay as you wrote them.
